We love this place and go for lunch once a week. The lunch specials are a good value and always hot and delicious!
I ordered their sesame chicken not over a half hour ago and am currently holding myself back from finishing the entire dish. This is without a doubt one of if not the best sesame chickens I have ever had. The portion size was amazing and will provide me with 3 meals total for what I paid. I know I will be back for more of this dish and other dishes they serve. I recommend this to anyone looking for high quality food!
Hunan Star is hands-down my go-to for takeout in Evanston. The phone is always ringing off the hook and yet they always get the orders out fast, hot, and exactly right. The Wonton Soup and Orange Chicken are the best I’ve had in town. Super flavorful, great portions.
The lunch specials are THE BEST! Call in your order the pick it up or have it delivered. They have a counter that would make it the smallest dining area in the North Shore but I might try it out on a rainy day. The menu is not gigantic the serve popular American style Chinese food with talent & precision. When you open up your boxes you are pleased with what your senses are sending to your brain. What you see smell & taste equal delicious.
Hands down the BEST crab rangoon & egg rolls I’ve ever had. We order here at least once a week. Occasionally I will also order veggie fried rice & lo mein or chow mein, which is also very good. I’ve also heard they have great lunch specials which I have yet to try. Whatever I order, will always include veggie eggrolls & crab rangoon because it’s my favorite. I don’t think you can go wrong here with whatever you order though. They are always super polite and throw in extra fortune cookies if you ask. I ordered for delivery for the first time tonight and the food was still hot & fresh! Pay attention to their hours because they are not the same everyday and closed on Mondays. There is no formal dining area, but they are stools and a bar if you want to eat there, or sit and wait for your food. Easy parking, but getting in and out can be challenging on golf road during rush hours. Pro tip: avoid golf by entering & exiting via TJMaxx parking lot on East Prairie.
bbq pork juicy, sweet/tangy….delicious!! sweet/sour chicken was fresh, crispy and the sauce was absolutely homemade..onion, pineapple, carrots.. yummy!!

The food is always done perfectly. Fresh ingredients. Abundant portions. The service is beyond gracious and always welcoming. It has been our go to spot for Chinese Take out for well over 25 years. Always delightful!
